ABOUT CPD
QSRC is responsible for the registration and regulation of the QS professionals in Botswana. Registered QSs are required by the Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct Standards to maintain and enhance their competence. They therefore have the responsibility to keep abreast of developments within the Built Environment to maintain their competence. They should also strive to contribute to the advancement of the body of knowledge, and the profession in general.
QSRC is mandated by the Government in terms of the Quantity Surveyors’ Registration Act, CAP 61:10 of 2013 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) to serve and protect the interest of the public by establishing and maintaining minimum standards of practice, knowledge and skills of registered Quantity Surveyors in Botswana as well as to establish and maintain standards of professional ethics amongst them. QSRC has adopted a policy for professional development within which appropriate training can be defined.
For this purpose, the QSRC has mandated the Institute of Botswana Quantity Surveyors (IBQS) to act as an agent on behalf of the QSRC in facilitating the CPD. The IBQS is therefore responsible for validation of course material (in conjunction with QSRC) that will attract CPD points presentation of courses, seminars and events that will attract CPD points, the issue of CPD attendance certificates to all attendees of such CPD courses, seminars and event coordination with other built environment professional organizations to develop a consistent approach to the presentation and management of CPD-eligible courses, seminars, and events.
